AIA LD Project Update | Inauguration of the Masion Pompidou "Project House 2030" in Paris
-
For Paris, the Centre Pompidou is more than just a building—it is a cultural icon of an era. As it prepares for a multi-year "deep renovation," how do we stay connected during this period of waiting? The inauguration of the "Maison Pompidou" provides a warm answer. A welcoming space to stay connected throughout the renovation. Through exhibitions, talks, tours, and workshops, discover the story behind this iconic landmark—its history, architecture, and ongoing transformation. Complex renewal, made tangible. Everyone is invited to witness the metamorphosis.
For our team of architects and engineers, this inauguration marks a pivotal milestone. It brings to life years of behind-the-scenes work: heritage diagnostic assessments, master planning, in-depth technical research, environmental simulations, and multidisciplinary collaboration... This is a meticulously precise project, aimed at giving a new lease on life to the iconic building designed by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers—preserving its original design DNA while responding to contemporary challenges in climate, technology, and cultural evolution.

This renovation is by no means a simple facelift. It is a comprehensive revitalization from the inside out. From complete asbestos removal and the renovation of the iconic facades, to the modernization of all utility networks, comprehensive energy efficiency improvements, and in-depth accessibility optimization—behind every task lies a powerful "ecosystem of expertise."

Here, AIA Life Designers takes on the technical coordination, while MOREAU KUSUNOKI and Frida Escobedo López Studio lead the cultural dimension of the design. AIA Ingénierie, AIA Environnement, and all project partners work together to drive this profound transformation.
The building is being upgraded, but the soul of the Centre Pompidou—the "Beaubourg Spirit"—has never paused for a moment. The project continues to move forward, while the pulse of culture has already extended beyond its walls. A series of "off-site cultural programs" are now in full swing, as the Centre Pompidou's artistic energy permeates the city's capillaries in a freer, more fluid way.

Thank you to all project teams for your dedication! The project continues, and the best is yet to come.
